Instead of being bound to a User Account on a physical PC by using registry settings to store product information, Qualify uses xml files which still exist on the PC by default, but under the User Profile account in the Application Data directory.
If Active Directory is in use (where Windows manages User Profiles so that users can hot desk), the Qualify settings are downloaded from the server when the user logs on, along with all of their other settings.
If your company does not have a Windows domain that manages roaming profiles and you still log onto multiple machines as part of your normal daily process, you can use two registry overrides to enable a network location to hold a single copy of your configuration files. These can then be used on each PC rather than having to set up the same user preferences multiple times. The registry settings enable a network path to be specified which overrides the location where the profile is stored. There is one for your Connections and one for Qualify. This is specific to the PC/User and the network must be available before the solution is launched.
Location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB And VBA Program Settings\OriginalSoftwareManager
Key: PreferencesPath
Value: <location of xml files>
Location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Original Software\TestControl
Key: PreferencesPath
Value: <location of xml files>
Please note that to avoid any user preferences being overwritten by additional installations for the same user on different PCs, it is advisable to set up the products as you want them on one machine, move the files onto the network share and then apply the registry override on to each PC where you want to use them (under the Windows profile/account that you wish the override to apply to).
The Connection holds the ODBC Data Source name, this must be the same on all PCs when using roaming profiles.
