Click the Filter option to the top right of a flat display to access several options which enable the data being displayed to be filtered. There are two types of filter which can be selected on the toolbar. The Advanced filter enables combinations of ‘And’ and ‘Or’ criteria to be defined whereas the Basic filter simply allows properties to be selected and combined to form one criterion. The two filters are mutually exclusive, in other words you can have one or the other, not both. Once applied it is not possible to switch between them, to do this you must remove any filtering, close and re-open the view.

Basic Filter: The properties available to filter are listed in the toolbar and are separated by property type, selecting one will cause it to appear in the filter area below. Supported property types for the Basic filter are:

  • Roles
  • Resources (a special value of exists which is translated at run time to the user who is signed on)
  • Text (single line, multi-line, RTF)
  • Single value selection lists
  • Dates

For Extended entities, the following properties are supported in the Basic filter:

No ancestor or child properties are currently supported.

Each different property in the filter is an ‘And’ criteria, where multiple values are selected for a property they are ‘Or’ criteria. For text fields, partial matches will be included in the selected data. For date fields, additional criteria become available such as ‘Last Week’ and ‘Today’. The audit date fields of ‘Created Date’ and ‘Modified Date’ are also available in the field list. Please note that on the iSeries, searching is case sensitive whereas it is not on other database types.

Select the ‘Transitions’ filter option to list all data for a selected pick list where the value has transitioned from one to another within a given date range. The Transitions filter can be used in combination with other filter selections with the exception of the History filter.

The ‘History’ filter enables all historical revisions within a given time period to be included within a grid of data. This data can then be used in charting or reporting to provide trend type analysis of the selected records. The History filter can be used in combination with other filter selections with the exception of the Transitions filter.

Advanced Filter: Use the Advanced filter if you wish to set up a combination of ‘And’ and ‘Or’ criteria.

Several menus and additional options appear depending on where in the above grid you click.

And/Or: The following menu enables the currently selected option to be changed between And, Or, Not And and Not Or. A new line can be added to the current group using the Add Condition option (or by clicking the + next to the group header) and a completely new group created with Add Group. The entire group can be removed using the Clear All option.

The advanced filter excludes the following property types

  • Entity Select properties
  • MultiValueSelect
  • Milestone
  • Some types of extended properties

In the Advanced filter for extended entities support includes:

  • Calculated fields
  • Base entity properties
  • Ancestor properties

No child properties are currently supported. Please note that there is no filtering support for external entities.

Once your filter selection has been made, click back on the Data or Chart icon to have it take immediate effect.
